“Jack! Jack, let him go--!” Anna was there in an instant, wrapping her arms around her partner and dragging him physically away from Bruce. She was stronger than him; always had been, and she supposed it had something to do with her Misfit blood. Normally, she hated what she was and what she could become, but at this present moment she was thankful that she had the strength to pull a full grown, adrenaline fueled man off of someone she cared about.
Not realizing that their argument had turned into white noise in Bruce’s ears, Anna shouted at Jack, gestured wildly. Told him to back off. Leave, stop pursuing her. They were friends, nothing more – never would be more.
Her back to Bruce, she kept a firm hand on Jack’s chest as he glared at her, eyes almost feral.
